Message from Pastor McCarty:

As senior pastor of First Baptist Church, I have a burden that we stay firmly grounded upon the Bible for our belief and our practice. Our church has been faithful to God's Word since its beginning in 1916 here in Los Gatos. Our pastors and people have been careful not to get caught up in fads that have affected some churches. We do not want to become so theoretical that we fail to be practical. The Bible was given as a guidebook for life, not just as a textbook for classes.

I approach the preaching of God's Word from a perspective that each and every word is important. So, we preach in an expositional style that seeks to understand the Word properly and apply it practically. I am interested in the Word affecting me first and then affecting those who listen.

Our staff is here to serve God's people and God's purposes. If you are looking for a biblical approach to ministry coupled with a practical outlook on life, you have found the right place. Roger G. McCarty, our senior pastor, joined us in 1996. He has been in the ministry since 1978. He graduated from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania in 1975, and from Baptist Bible Seminary in 1978. He has served as the assistant pastor at Trinity Baptist Church of Sunnyvale, California; and as senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Baker, Montana; Byron Baptist Church of Byron, Michigan; Faith Baptist Church of Visalia, California; and here at First Baptist Church. He and his wife, Beth, have five grown children.
